Itinerary

Day 1
City tour

Tour start: 6:00 am

  • Prepare to board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus at sunrise. Along with an expert tour guide, you will soon take over Santo Domingo, the first city in the Americas, and learn the historically relevant facts of this modern metropolitan city.
  • We will have lunch in a typical restaurant, where your senses will be diverted with the pleasant aromas of cinnamon and ginger. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed to the rhythm of the Merengue, in an environment where the flavor and camaraderie come to life. You will be delighted with the traditional Dominican dish, known as "the Dominican flag". Take a walk through the Colonial Zone and discover its monuments and museums. It pays tribute to the First Cathedral of the Americas, the birthplace of a fervent Catholic faith. Formally known as the Santa María de la Encarnación Metropolitan Cathedral.
  • This former cabin made of real palms now occupies an entire block. Putting your sight inside yourself for the first time is a true sensory experience. Stroll down Las Damas street, the oldest street, not only in the Dominican Republic, in all the Americas. It preserves as many monuments in its surroundings. The Museo de las Casas Reales, formerly the Government Palace, has a fascinating display of artifacts from the colonial era. Monument of historical importance that was once a Jesuit church, the National Pantheon became the final resting place of many illustrious Dominicans after its restoration in 1538. A huge copper lamp hangs over its dome, emanating a perpetual flame for always keeping alive the memory of national heroes. A walk through the Alcázar de Colón captivates visitors to the time of the first Spanish conquerors. The only pedestrian street known as Atarazanas was the first commercial street in the Americas. The gloomy National Palace is exemplified by its well-crafted formal balance and historical commemorations. We will get off the bus for a brief moment to take pictures in front of the presidential palace. Arrive at the boardwalk in Santo Domingo, where you will appreciate the beauty of the Caribbean Sea and some modern buildings, such as the Palace of Fine Arts, the National Theater, the Presidential Palace and more.
  • Visit this multi-million dollar lighthouse that was built in 1992 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the landing of Columbus in the Americas. Come join us as we rediscover the first city in the New World, Santo Domingo. Important: On Mondays we only offer panoramic views of the museums and some additional free time to walk through the colonial city center.
