Itinerary

Day 1
Santo Domingo - Los Tres Ojos - Jardin Botanico - Private dinner
  • Tour start time: 8:30 a.m.
  • Within the city of Santo Domingo, not far from the colonial city, you will find the national park and cave system "Los Tres Ojos" with underground river courses and drip stone caves. During this excursion you will have the opportunity to go down to the caves and enjoy the view and the corals with vegetation. The name is derived from the three inland lakes. What many do not know is that there is also a lake outside. Discovered in 1916, the cave is believed to have been frequented by ancient natives of Hispaniola.
  • Afterwards, you will visit the Botanical Garden, an area of 20 hectares where you can find a large collection of palm trees, as well as many endemic and exotic plants, including a large selection of orchids with a great variety of species from all over the island. Inaugurated in 1976 with the aim of conserving and investigating the varied flora of the island, more than 69,000 botanically classified species can be observed, distributed in the eight most important ecosystems of the country.
  • Here you will also find the Japanese Garden with a beautifully decorated landscape of bamboos, araucanas, junipers and many other Asian plants and flowers. With the addition of "tori" lakes and bridges, which to the Japanese means heaven's gate. It offers a calm and relaxing feeling on your journey.
  • After this morning you will have the opportunity to return to your hotel to relax.
  • For the evening we will have an exquisite dinner in a private setting. Your guide will meet you back in the lobby, followed by a short walk from your hotel to your hostess's home. A passionate cook with exceptional skills will greet you in her little garden not far from the San Francisco ruins.
  • On the patio, which is decorated with tropical plants, you can expect a first-class menu with classics like Tagliata di Manzo or Ceviche, but also regional specialties like goat or rabbit.
  • The dishes are of special quality and interpret tradition. The hostess only uses fresh ingredients, which she buys from regional markets. The menu can be agreed in advance at the time of your reservation.
  • Your host will be contacting you for this purpose. Vegetarian menus are also possible. Red wine, white wine and mineral water will accompany the meal. Enjoy first-class cuisine, get inspired by the elegant surroundings and get to know Santo Domingo from its culinary side.
  • If it is Sunday you also have the opportunity to experience an outdoor concert of a special kind before dinner. Every weekend the group "Bonyé" plays on the magical stage of the ruins of San Francisco. The group of about 20 people with singers and various instruments plays merengue, son and jazz. The concerts are attended by Dominicans of all ages, celebrate, listen to music or dance happily.
