Description

Visit the castle of San Felipe, the oldest military fort in the Americas.   • The area has a great historical treasure, with buildings dating back to the 1600s, the Amber Museum includes samples of ancient fossils, some worth up to $50,000. We will also visit the cable car located at the top of Isabel de Torres Mountain (2,555 feet or 855 meters above the sea), this cable car offers a beautiful panoramic view of the sea and the surroundings of Puerto Plata. It is one of the most picturesque excursions and impressive things that a tourist can get during their visit to the Dominican Republic.
  • The top of the mountain is surrounded by botanical gardens, a statue of Christ (similar to the one in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), plus, of course, the stunning views of Puerto Plata and the surrounding ocean.
  • Fort San Felipe (San Felipe Fort) is located on a small peninsula in the Bay of Puerto Plata, the Fort is, in fact, the only vestige of Puerto Plata's colonial past. Where you can look inside a small historical museum, and the small cell in which the hero of Independence, Juan Pablo Duarte, was briefly imprisoned.
  • At Brugal Rum Distillery, you will be escorted inside the enormous distillery that produces around thousands of liters to a million and a half of black and white rum each year. Of course you can buy rum slightly discounted by the liter and very nice souvenirs
