Description

The so-called "Parish Ruins " or Carthage Ruins are located east of the city's Plaza Mayor. They are made up of the walls and steps of a Romanesque-style temple.
We will also visit the Irazú Volcano and navigate the Sarapiquí River.

Itinerary

Day 1
Adventure Sarapiqui River & Irazu Volcano
Tour start: 7:30 am
  • This complete tour gives you the opportunity to enjoy the best moments of Costa Rica for a full day, first we will visit the 'Ruins of Cartago', where you will get to know the incredible history that surrounds this place.
  • Then we will visit the Irazú Volcano , with its unique view of the crater and on a clear day you can see both the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Once we arrive at Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí we will board the boat to discover the richness of the nature of Costa Rica along the river. The boat trip will last two hours, time to witness the magnificent tropical forest and its inhabitants, such as toucans, monkeys, sloths, crocodiles and many other species.
  • At the end of this river adventure you will arrive at a private farm, to enjoy a home-style lunch , and then you can go hiking on one of the nature trails.
  • In the afternoon, before returning to the city, you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of the lush Braulio Carrillo, as you pass through this spectacular National Park.
