Hiking the 4 Summits, our exclusive adventure, will take you to conquer the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th highest peaks in the Caribbean in an unforgettable 3.5-day experience. Each day will provide you with varied trails, including marked cross-country hikes, on your way to 4 exciting summits.

Itinerary


Day 1
Start the adventure
  • Our guides will receive you at the base camp in the town of La Ciénaga (1,100 m / 3,609 ft), where after a brief orientation talk, review of the trip itinerary and enjoying a delicious dinner, you will rest on the banks of the Yaque River. of the North, to begin the tour the next day.

Day 2
Summit of Pico Yaque + hike to La Comarticion shelter
  • After a tasty breakfast at the base camp, we will begin our 19 km (11.2 mi) hike. After climbing the Loma del Repentemiento, we will deviate from the main path and walk cross-country between stones and hay for about 500 meters (0.31 mi), until we reach the first peak of our expedition, Pico Yaque (2,764 m / 9,068 ft. ). After celebrating, we will return to the main road to continue our journey to the shelter called La Compartión, where we will spend the night. The day's walk consists of: 4 km (2.5 mi) flat, 12 km (7.5 mi) uphill, and 3 km (1.9 mi) downhill. Upon arriving at La Compartión, a delicious dinner in front of a cozy campfire will help us recover from the walk.

Day 3
Top of Pico Duarte + Top of La Pelona
  • The first hike of the day will be 5 km (3.1 mi) to the highest peak of our expedition, in the country and in the entire Caribbean, the majestic Pico Duarte (3,084 m / 10,118 ft), where we will celebrate and enjoy a beautiful view panoramic view of the majestic Central Mountain Range. Just 3 km (1.9 mi) away, our second peak of the day awaits us, the 2nd highest mountain in the country and the Caribbean, La Pelona (3,084 m / 10,118 feet). Once in La Pelona, we will walk 6 km (3.7 mi) from its summit to return to the Compartition, where we will spend our second night. We will say goodbye to the day with a delicious dinner in front of a cozy campfire. It is important to go to bed early that night to be rested for the demanding hike the next day.

Day 4
Summit of La Rusilla + return to base camp
  • Our fourth day starts very early, at 3 am. After breakfast, we will walk 4 km (2.5 mi) with our headlamps, under the stars, to reach the 3rd highest peak in the Caribbean, La Rusilla (3,038 m / 9,967 feet).
  • We will reach the summit – a beautiful plain full of haystacks and pine trees – around dawn. Having achieved our goal, the last of the 4 Summits, we will walk 18 km (11.5 mi) to the base camp in La Ciénaga, where a typical hot lunch and a cold river bath will be the perfect farewell to this unforgettable adventure.
