Description

This tour will take us to the top of the Barú Volcano, the highest place in Panama at 3,477 meters above sea level. The volcano is surrounded by cloud forests, where we will look for regional endemic birds from the Talamanca mountain range, which stretches from Costa Rica to the highlands of Chiriquí, in western Panama.

For lovers of nature and extreme experiences, this is a climbing-type walking tour with medium difficulty, steep / muddy trails, possibility of rain, low temperatures, off-road route.

Itinerary


Day 1
Climbing
  • Departure from the place of your accommodation.
  • During the journey we will stop to look for birds typical of the cloud forest: Black-cheeked Warbler, Sooty-capped Chlorospingus, Costa Rican Pigmy-owl, Timberline Wren ...
  • If we have a clear day, we can enjoy the view from the top of the volcano, one of the most spectacular in Central America.
  • We will have lunch at the summit and we will look for tall species such as Sooty Thrush and Volcano Junco, common at the top, as well as White-nosed Coati.

Day 2
Decline
  • The return will be by the same route of the previous day, taking approximately 7 hours, it is important to pack your bags and have everything ready to start the descent as early as possible
